Requirements:

To ensure a successful and fulfilling experience for both our volunteers and residents, we are looking for individuals who meet the following skills and requirements:


Requirements

  • Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. However, we can allow for younger volunteers with parental consent and a comprehensive Risk Assessment in place.

  • Commitment: Willingness to commit to a set schedule as agreed.

  • Background Check: Completion of a DBS check may be required for certain roles.

  • Training: Participation in our volunteer induction programme, which includes relevant health and safety guidance and an overview of our organisation.


Essential Skills

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating empathy and compassion.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with residents and staff.


Additional Qualities

  • Reliability: A commitment to showing up on time and fulfilling agreed-upon responsibilities.

  • Respect for Confidentiality: Understanding and adherence to confidentiality agreements regarding resident information.

  • Positive Attitude: A willingness to contribute to a supportive and encouraging environment.


Specific Skills and Qualifications

No previous qualifications or specific skills are necessary. However, we are particularly keen on introducing volunteers with the following:

  • Previous experience in social services, counselling, or related fields.

  • Knowledge of mental health issues and support strategies.

  • Training or certification in first aid.

  • Proficiency in additional languages.

  • Skilled individuals such as Gardeners, Musicians, Hairdressers, Therapists, Nutritionists, Health Coaches, Sports Coaches, Interpreters and other skills that could help us support our residents by holding workshops and events.

  • Participate in an induction programme and relevant training sessions.
