Daily Responsibilities:

URGENTLY REQUIRED- IMMEDIATE START AVAILABLE


The Welfare and Safety Officer (WSO) will provide holistic support to the residents accommodated in SHS houses on a daily basis. This will include welfare and safety checks between 5pm and 10pm ensuring that the residents are safe and secure in the properties, and that they are adhering to their Licence Agreement and in turn sustaining their accommodation. The Welfare & Safety Officer will be expected to do the following:

·         To conduct house visits and welfare checks as required and instructed by the Welfare and Safety Manager and or the Service Manager.

·         To conduct spot checks at houses as required and instructed by the Welfare Manager and or the Service Manager.

·         Respond to out of hours emergencies, which may be outside of your normal working hours. You may not need to attend, but it will be your responsibility to assess the information and act accordingly.

·         To ensure that repair and maintenance issues raised by residents or identified by you are reported using the usual SHS process.

·         To highlight Licence breaches immediately to the Line Manager and to act accordingly to ensure the safeguarding of the other residents.

·         On occasion escort/move residents to another property within SHS, when you will be expected to support the resident to pack and take their belongings.

·         On occasion you may be asked to escort residents to the Local Authority Offices.

·         On occasion you may be required to coordinate the signing of new/updated sign up documentation to facilitate an emergency move.

·         To take items required by the residents to the houses, as requested by your line Manager and or the Service Manager.

·         Keep accurate records both manually and digitally, using current SHS processes.

·         Record and report incidents using the current SHS process.

·         Provide reports requested by your Line Manager and or the Service Manager.

·         Ensure that all communication with residents is logged using the current SHS systems.

·         Ensure that your work phone is on and fully charged during your working hours, and that you report identified faults on the phone immediately.

Requirements:

This role is varied and will require a comprehensive level of understanding of how to support vulnerable individuals in the community, ranging from security to care and support, therefore the following is required:

·         To be available during the hours agreed including out of normal office hours. Flexibility is essential. A typical shift pattern will be 4pm-10pm weekdays, and some hours at the weekend.

·         A full clean Driving Licence

 ·         Confident with lone working

·         Adhere to SHS Policies and Procedures at all times and not bring the Company Name into ill repute at any time.

·         Attend training as and when required and as directed by your line Manager and or Service Manager. This may require working outside of the normal pattern of hours.

·         Attend staff meetings and briefings as required.

·         Attend regular work reviews with your Line Manager and or the Service Manager as required.

Hours and Salary:

·         Part Time/ Flexitime considered

·         Salary: £12 per hour

·         Additional on-call responsibilities (paid) upon successful completion of the probation period.

About the Company:

Safe Haven Sussex provides accommodation and support to vulnerable adults who are homeless. Providing them with a safe place to recover and gain the confidence and the skills they need to move on to independence. Safe Haven Sussex Residents live in shared houses situated across Brighton and Hove.
The Welfare and Safety Team are there to ensure that Safe Haven Sussex residents are safe and well, that their concerns are responded to, and that the accommodation is safe and secure outside of office hours.
